Auto Supplier Aid Request Rejected By Obama Admin

Patranus

Diamond Member
I thought the entire point of buying GM and Chrysler was to mitigate the damage that would occur if the companies were liquidated, specifically the cascade effect liquidation would have on part suppliers.

The Obama administration has turned down a request by auto suppliers for up to $10 billion in additional federal aid to help the parts companies deal with the bankruptcies of General Motors and Chrysler.

Obama did say that the government would honor warranties on cars sold but that is going to be hard without any parts.

Wa wa wa Obama is giving them money....

Wa wa wa Obama is not giving them money...

God could you be any bigger troll.

Mods i thought people when banned were not allowed to make/use other accounts? Why is he still here?

If you can demonstrate what his other account is, we will take action. Otherwise this constitutes as a callout and will be dealt with accordingly.

Your choice - put up or edit out your accusation.

I also wonder what the practical "gov-funded warranty" would look like. If a bunch of dealerships died how would this even work?

So are you guys angry about giving bailouts or not? Now you seem to be angry about having no bailout.... It ALMOST seems like all you really are really here for is to bash Obama regardless of what he does.

Oh, wait. Not almost.

I think the concern here is the lack of a consistent approach more than anything else....surely you can understand this concern without going into defensive mode. What do you think? Why should we bail out the auto manufacturers and not the parts suppliers? It ALMOST seems like you're really here for is to praise Obama regardless of what he does.

I can understand the concern, if someone were dumb enough to miss the obvious.

The big 3 are major employers and for them to have gone under, would also bring down all the suppliers as well - it truly would have been the nail in the coffin of our economy. Smaller parts suppliers are not the same. Part supplier A files bankruptcy and can still make parts. Part supplier B goes out of business and auto makers just go to supplier C for the parts.

All that, and I think it's obvious to everyone by now that the economy is turning the corner and hte bailouts have to stop. At this point even GM and Chrysler arent getting any more bailouts - why should smaller suppliers?

/edit - that and obviously petranus111 isnt here for facts, he is just here to bash Obama.

Maybe it depends.. Obama gives car makers money because they voted for him (car unions, uaw)? Are suppliers really unionized. I don't think so.. No, money for them... just speculation, though.

On topic: So since when were the UAW and the automakers in bed with each other? If anything the automakers want the UAW to be gone.

I don't see the parts supplier issue from such a simplistic perspective that's evidently so 'obvious' to you. I suggest that you might want to actually listen to yourself sometime. We live in a JIT world now...to say automakers will simply go to supplier C is naive. The impact on the auto makers will be huge. Parts manufacturers will go bankrupt. The impact on jobs will be huge. Parts availability issues will cripple automakers. Personally...I think we threw money down a rat hole that only delays the inevitable. Hope I'm wrong...time will tell.

Good one liberal... what are you going to do next? Use the argument, "I'm rubber, you're glue.. everything bounces off of me, and sticks to you"... hahahaha loser....

Well, lets see. I went to page 1 at P&N and sorted by originator and scrolled to P. There are 4 threads currently from this guy - all 4 obvious trolling efforts to bash the left and pardon the right.

Clearly Winnar111's MO

wow not to blow your bubble but that aint proof. I see Common said proof. That isn't hard to understand is it. Not to mention this is hardly a partisan attack. Or a lift up of the R's either.

I don't find that Patranus posts things with the inflammatory tone that winnar, dave, and phokus do or did. So far these posts have seemed facts-only. Frequency of topic-posting is irrelevant.

Naturally you guys can't allow that.

These guys must have not donated to the Obama election campaign. This is Illinois politics people.. PAY TO PLAY... P A Y T O P L A Y ! ! !

I'll give you that. winnar is more like Barry or FNE. PatrANUS just seems like a ditto head.

It's pretty simple: The Parts Manufacturers Need the Auto Companies to survive or they go kaput. One could argue that the Auto Companies need the Parts Companies to survive as well, but that relationship is not quite as vital and if the Big 3 shrink their Suppliers will also need to shrink. You can't Bailout everyone so you Bailout the Key Players and in the Auto Industry the Auto Manufacturers are Key.

Thanks for proving my point, troll.

No he is winnar for sure but if you look at the history you wont get rid of him so best to just expose him and leave it at that. I mean if one was so inlclined you could go back in time and find old dormant accounts and try different common passwords like "password" and it would probably open some of them up. If one was so inclined they could have 4 or 5 dormant noob accounts ready to go. I'm not saying it isn't a tme consuming venture but for a guy like this well i don't think its a big hurtle.

What is it that bothers you so much about Winnar...that he's a troll or that he's a conservative troll?

I find it repulsive that he isn't honest with himself about his positions and he is willing to change his position just to be against his "enemies"

let me add that sometimes thru the use of this forum my positions do change and i don't fault people for that. it's apart of the discovery of life to learn things, grow and reform opinions.
