Well my mother has had me on her insurance policy for years, even though she was supposed to remove me a while ago. In this case I was actually very very lucky that I was left on. Otherwise, I would have had to file an SR-22 with the state etc etc, but that's not the point of the story.
Anyhow, while calling her company to have them fax some info to the state, I thought I would inquire about how much it would cost to have me on the policy vs not having me. The difference is almost exactly $150 per year. Not bad at all, especially considering that I currently have 9 points on my license (bad luck). I then push my luck by asking about a good student discount since I am doing my master's degree and have a 4.0 (just starting).
She then goes and gets some info about it. She comes back and tells me that it would save $200 on the policy per year! I am like WTF?! So pushing it even further, I ask if they need verification of my grades and if that is really correct. She checks again, and no verification is needed, and the calculations are correct, and they will take effect when she renews her policy.
So HOLY CRAP! Having a 23 year old on her policy with 9 points actually is saving her $50 per year... be cause he (me) is a good student (even though they are just taking my word).
Great great stuff! Anyone else heard of something this screwy?
