Got a good stable overclock for now. I don't want to push it up any higher just cause I want to use the system like I normally would and see if it crashes. Right now it's at 760/1900/980 using the stock cooler at 50% (I have an Antec nine hundred with all fans on full blast so any other fan noise is neglible =P). Anyways, I'm using rivatuner and have the box checked to automatically set the clock. But everytime windows vista fires up and rivatuner with it, all the clocks are set back to stock and i have to manually set them again. Is there a way to keep them set that way using RTuner. I don't think coolbits works anymore (it's been awhile since I overclocked a gpu). Thanks

If you're using Vista 32-bit, unfortunately no. The UAC blocks it on loading so you need to shut-off the UAC (User account Control) which is not recommended to get it to load normally. If you're using Vista 64-bit you can tweak permission levels to get it to work I believe. I would check out the Rivatuner Support Forum if you haven't done so .....

Are you kidding me? shutting of UAC is highly recommend as it is a useless peice of crap...
The UAC means that most operations that could be harmful (and many that are harmless) require you to press a button to approve... Too bad it doesn't actually tell you WHAT You are approving.. just shows a generic icon + name (ex, "Networking" with the networking picture, but no indication of which program is doing WHAT with networking options)... the "extra info" displays a 25 alphanumeric code that means absolutely nothing... way to go microsoft giving us such a useful feature...

I was really looking forward to it too, I excepect UAC to check online databases for known malicous operations, to give you the EXACT filename and location of the program trying to do the action, to give you suggestions based on general info (the location of the program, suggestions like "if it is a purchased game or software you installed from a CD then it is probably safe" etc).

Anyways, disable that sucker.

I admit that I'm too lazy to figure this out, although I could. How do you do that?

Nm, figured it out. Everything works as it should now. Now I just hope my clock speeds are stable enough to handle some crysis.

I disagree because that's "Throwing The Baby Out With The Bath Water" and the UAC does have it's good points as well. On my own rig, using Vista 32, I have it partially disabled which gets rid of most of the annoying aspects of the UAC and keeps the good ones. I used TweakUAC to accomplish this. See link for Utility App and a good description as to what the UAC actually does .....

http://www.tweak-uac.com/

However this still does not resolve the Rivatuner Loading Issue.

Yes I knew there were a few workarounds and tried them, but unfortunately they didn't work for me. This is the first time I've seen this solution posted and it looks like it will work. I'll give it a try and thanks very much for the link.
