How about some new ones or added ones such as a hard hat guy for us blue collar workers.Or how hard is it to let us fetch one from our on space and link it ?
 
There was supposed to be some contest to add some more avatars, but I'm not sure what happened to that. Of course, more various avatars would be nice. 🙂

For a few reasons, they don't let us link to external personal avatars, and they will not be allowing this in the future (unless my crystal ball is entirely wrong 😉). The main reason is the moderation; you've got 117,793 users to worry about, and you just know that plenty of people will try to put "inappropriate" pictures in there (notice how many boards that allow personalized avatars have annoying animated flashing GIFs or little porno pics).
 
I think the contest flopped because there were so few submissions.

There was supposed to have been a stickied thread/category for submissions (I think), but in the end it was decided to do them by e-mail, and I don't think very many people saw that decision.

Well they will just need to employ/find a volunteer avatar moderator

Right. I am sure someone would freely volunteer their time to search ~120,000 different users all day everyday to make sure all avatars are within the rules.
