John Howard, Prim minister of Australia. Offered ground troops to be sent in support of US.
Looks like my friends are of to Afg. Looks like he backed up what he said he would do. They are due to leave at the
end of the week.
No offense intended here... but Australia has a military??? I always viewed Australia as a nice, peaceful country that everyone wants to visit... kind of like Switzerland. I never even though of anyone attacking Australia or anything like that... so my silly brain just made a decision that they had no army.
However, IMO, I think all ground troups should stay away from there. I'll back whatever our Govt. does, but I can see that getting real ugly. We need some covert ops with lots of intelligence.

Let me guess, you don't think Canada has a military either? What about those countries in europe that "everyone wants to visit"...they don't have one either? Wake up.
Dude... I was sorta kidding... but I know Canada has a military...
I would assume that Australia's military is somewhat small (e.g. per capita vs other countries), so it is surprising that they have been some of the first folks to step up and commit some troops.
If the Australian army is anything like their predecessors in WWI, WWII, and the Korean war, the afghani's should be wetting themselves. The Aussies were quite rugged and fierce in war. I'd put their regular army on par with the US Marines as quality goes (during the 3 big wars).
