Funny name, free wireless?

Schlotzsky's Inc. has begun offering free wireless Internet access at most Austin restaurants, and it is installing rooftop antennas so folks blocks away can log on for free.

A growing number of hotels and coffeehouses offer wireless connections to customers, but the Austin-based sandwich chain is taking it a step further by offering the service outside its restaurants.

According to the article, they hope to eventually go nationwide. I don't know the requirements, but the range will probably be limited. According to a poster on austin.internet, the service should be up in about 10 business days.

Hot deal if you live near a Schlotsky's! well proubly would be slow for a home connection but still pretty cool. Props to Schlotsky's for doing this.

OK. There is now officially no reason to ever leave a Schlotzsky's. I have always loved their sandwiches, and this puts them over the edge. I can sit back with my jalapeno Texas Scholtzsky and surf forever!

man this woudlve been great if i was still in school!

yea most of the newer buildings have it (like ACES), and i think they're working on putting it in all over. people in my cs class (WC Hogg) would be downloading music and chatting on AIM during the lecture... heh

but the library's and some of the cafeterias have it, so you can study and have access to the internet outside of your dorm/apt. it's pretty nice, and I don't remember if they charge you for it or not, but i'm sure it's pretty cheap if they do.
