Know what i've been noticing for a couple years now?

If you watch enough old SNL re-runs on comedy central, and see enough of Mike Meyers other movies, you realize that Austim Powers is fabricated completely out of old sketch routines!

I actually think it's VERY impressive that Meyers could take such a diverse amount of funny characters and combine them all into a successful international man of intrigue!

anyone else caught glimpses of this? have any examples? i know i have a ton

He played a hyper hypo (hyper-active hypoglycemic) child with Nicole Kidman

I wonder if he took that characters energy

anything from Dieter from Sprockets? - touch my monkey?

middle-aged man? - some body movements from him maybe?

what are some that you noticed

there was an episode of wayne's world hosted by john goodman from the early 90's...there he was re-enacting a robbery scene with garth and did the "maybe i'll take the stairs/escalator/canoe/elevator" thing behind the couch..very funny

there was a skit where he's an old british dude and he says "i'm having trouble controlling the volume of my voice!"

in "i married an axe murderer" he gets his scottish accent and charisma by playing his own father...this was used in "fat bastard"

of course, i'm blanking now, but i'll post some more if they come to mind

I wouldn't say completely fabricated out of old routines, although you are right that he did add a few of the in.

oh yeah, and there was this SNL skit called "i'm a handsome man" which mike meyers hosted. in that he laughs EXACTLY like austin (i.e. laughing VERY hard at something that might not be that funny)

haha

Is the skit where he is an old british dude the one where he is a host of a talk show and he uncontrollably spins around in a chair?

He's used his scottish accent imitation for different characters in movies: the dad in "So I married an Axe murderer", Fat bastad in AP2, and now the new movie "Shrek".
