I'm looking to try some interesting kinds of food. Not the typical Chinese, Thai, Indian, Mexican etc. Something a bit more exciting like Persian, Venezuelan, Russian, etc.

I could look it up myself, but then I don't have any reviews at all. I just ate at a really crummy Thai restaurant the other day.

Any suggestions?

Westheimer is the one road in Houston I am familiar with. But I am entertaining a guest this week and one of the things she said she wanted to do was find some interesting restaurants.

I've seen that. I thought it was closed. I'll have to take a closer look next time I pass it.

It is actually quite tasty. Very exotic. Shoddy building, though.

There's a Persian place at MOPAC and Anderson. Albors, or something like that. Haven't been there, but a friend told me it was good.

There is an El Salvadorian place in Austin, too. I think of it as tropical Mexican food.

Whats your price range?

for high end adventurous cuisine, I really like Restaurant Jezebel on Congress.

lobster bisque with foie gras served in uni shell. mmmmmmmm.

I believe the name of the Ethiopian place is called Astor's.

And even staples such as Chinese, Vietnamese, Mexican can be plenty exotic if you order the more authentic, exotic dishes.

I'm a big fan of Asia Cafe in the back of a Chinese Grocery store up north on 183 and SpicewoodSprings. Fairly authentic spicy Szechuan cuisine. staple dish is probably the spicy fish.

If said person is not from Texas/New Mexico/Arizona then you need to take them to a taqueria and let them experience some real food.

Yeah real taqueria and not a Tex Mex place.

Al Pastor, Lengua (tongue), that kind of stuff. Not Fajitas or chimichangas.
