Austin guys - good place to bring a girl

well my sweetie is starting school in a few weeks at southwestern university north of austin in georgetown. looks like I'll be making the drive to austin every weekend to see her now that I have weekends off.

someone help me out, whats some ideas for a good place to bring a girl.. at home her parents were overprotective and I want to expose her to things she hasn't had the oppurtunity to experience before college now. we'll do 6th street when the time is right, I want to ease her into being able to hang with my friends.

anyway she likes italian so I want to take her to the macaroni grill or another good italian place, but I don't want to cheese out all the time and do the movie thing.

help me out?

Chuy's is good.

On Guadalupe St. you'll find a resturant known as Patio. Been in Austin since 1954. Not too far from campus. Anyway, they have very good Mexican food at a great price, with excellent service.

Might also want to try Gilligans downtown. Again, not bad, although the pricing can leave something to be desired.

Excellent Chinese buffet on Anderson and Lamar. Ate there on Saturday, as a matter of fact. A bit pricy at $10.00 per person. Wide variety. Their candied bananas are addictive!

Check out Barton Springs and Barton Creek while you are near downtown. Nice atmosphere.

There's plenty to do. I'm sure other regulars here can come up with more.

Barton Springs is great. Nothing like chilling out in 60° water when it's 100° out!

edit- and I've been to barton springs and that water is way too damn cold for me to ever get in there again!

i second that, but make sure your wallet is full (for Oasis... it's expensive)

I agree with the Oasis, great place to go. If youre in to barbeque, theres a great place called the Salt Lick a little ways out of Austin. Wonderful food but you better get there early, it gets packed.

Take her to the one by the river.. I think it on 2222

IMO, it's better that OASIS.

The bread is unbeatable!
