I'm surprised Canada (I just walked by a shop selling marijuana seeds downtown) isn't at the top, although they do mention North America in general as being equal. I'm somewhat surprised given the historically conservative right leaning image Australia has. I sort of LOLed at the long list of negative side effects they had to list at the bottom then ended the article with basically saying they don't think that there really is any major health concern, compared to tobacco and alcohol.

We are.

According to the 2007 World Drug Report by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, Canada has the dubious honour of leading the industrialized world in marijuana use, at least when calculated as a percentage of population.

According to the UN report, which is a staple of police forces around the world, 16.8 per cent of Canadians between the ages of 15 and 64 smoked pot or ingested one of its derivatives last year.

That's well above the world average of 3.8 per cent for the same demographic and ahead of almost every other country in the world save for Ghana (21.5 per cent of the population), Zambia (17.7 per cent) and the tiny island-states of Papua New Guinea and Micronesia (29 per cent each).

16.8% >>>> 8%

A lot of people don't like pot. There is a good reason for it. That reason is that smoking pot makes them realize things they don't want to realize.

I don't like pot and I'm Australian.

I would say white collar drugs have a greater presence then pot. At festivals no one is smoking pot, they're all on ecstacy.

the desire to intoxicate is the problem indicator. if you need to play yoyo with brain chemistry, you have a problem.

Maybe you go to a non-representative sample of festivals.
Pot festivals and ecstacy festivals are different IMO.
Or maybe Australians just do it wrong.

I don't know a lot about drugs, but since when is ecstasy a "white collar" drug? Isn't it out of the same bathtub as meth?

i take it you don't drink, smoke, drink coffee, refuse all medicine, or hell refuse to watch tv and/or movies?

don't want to play with those neurotransmitters, that's serious business.
