well, China is quickly becoming a economic powerhouse that has major influence on the US economy, but saying that we need to keep them in check is far-fetched.

North Korea would pose a lethal threat to the pacific with nukes, and Russia appears to be slowly reverting back into USSR every day under Putin.

Australia is one of the few countries that exist that the US has never really had any transgressions with. I don't think they've ever been out to start crap with their neighbors, their boundaries are defined 100% by water, so there's no disputes there. The last time they really had to go at it in a major war was WW2 against the Japanese, but then everyone that could throw a stone in the Pacific Ocean was. I'd say sell them some and take in some economy of scale benefits.
