Aurora Borealis: Who has seen it?

I saw it once in Utah, which is apparently pretty rare. It was this weird reddish cloud thing that slowly moved in the sky.

I live in northern alberta, i see it all the time. When it is really bright it is cool, but i dont think it is anything special, i have seen it so much!

My brother always used to send pics from Alaska. It was usually like a cascade of green haze. Utterly spectacular, can't wait to check it out in person.

I see them all the time... (Ontario, Canada)

However, when in town I can't... Have to go out in the country to see them, and I've only seen Green once... 🙁

Saw it once in central minnesota. Not very bright, but still quite visible. My parents said they've never seen it before.

The night that the very first space shuttle was launched the Aurora Borealis extended South far enough that I saw it in Lancaster, CA.

It was a red glow that took up the entire Eastern sky - it looked as if the world was on fire.

Twice while living in Florida, I saw the same phenomena - both times on nights of shuttle launches.

Coincidence ?
Threat or Menace ?

I've seen them from my in-laws cottage in Michigan's U.P.

Don't see them everytime we go up there, but so far we've seen them the past two years....but not the 3 years before that. (that's as long as I've been going up there... my wife doesn't remember seeing them at all, before the last couple years.)

I live 500 km north of you, and we see them all the time here. Gorgeous ... you really need to be somewhere you can hear them to experience them fully.

hear?

Yes ... they make a crackling/electrical sound if it is a powerful enough display, and you're in a quiet spot. I live in a small town, and if you head 5 minutes away from the lights and traffic, you can hear them. All sorts of colors too ... green (most predominant), red, purple, blueish ...

Yes I saw it in BC Canada, 500 miles north of Vancouver as well as the Northern Lights. Now that is cool to, the sky is green.

Yes. Saw it crossing the pond in 2000. Nothing like seeing it under a totally dark, star filled sky on the sea. Very eerie.

I'd see it about once every 3-4 years when I was growing up in Ontario. I also saw it once last year while driving from Syracuse to Rochester.
