Aureal Vortex 1 conflicts?

Putting together another gaming box to sell & picked up a used aureal vortex 1 card and found some drivers to download. Had a lot of grief on the install and lots of other os problems I thought were all different components but tested all and took out snd card, everything fine then put back in and boot up problems etc.

Anyone else have any tips on using this card. Its a pci aureal vortex that I only paid about 6 bucks for so its no loss but would like to use it. I tried to use it on a soyo via cs board.

Gonna have to go ask at some other boards!! Everyone must be playing with their new toys from christmas.

Nobody ever used the Aureal Vortex 1?

I've read where others have had problems using vortex 1 cards on boards with via chipsets. I myself had a p3v4x and couldn't get my aztech pci338 (a3d 1.0) card working with it no matter what i did. Others had the same problem. Bought a sblive and had no problems afterwards. So my guess is that you won't get that card working with that board no matter what you do.

Go figure! I bought a SBLive too and tried to replace my ensoniq with it on a via board. Removed the old one from properties & installed but all kinds of problems so went back to ensoniq, still problems with boot up, BSD's & conflicts leading to an OS reinstall. Put the live on a clean drive first, BX board & everything went fine. Heard it has to be installed first, even before via 4in1's.

Well that might be 6bucks down the drain.

I've got one with no probs! 😎 I am running a BX chipset on a Soyo board. You can get good drivers for the vortex 1 at Vortex of Sound

Hope it helps! 😎 Also waht OS are you running? I have heard that Win 2000 and the vortex don't work too well together due to lack of driver support.
