Aureal Drivers...

Anyone using a Vortex II card in Win2k? How are the drivers? Thats the biggest thing thats stopping me from moving to Win2k.

my mx300 works okay w/ win2k drivers, but no a3d. i tried to use the beta drivers from aureal but they didn't work and it took MUCH effort to get back to having working sound. was not fun. don't do it unless you're at a point where you wouldn't mind wiping and starting over (would've been easier).

be well,

I also tried the win2k drivers.... and they stunk for the amount of work that you needed to do...

I wonder if there are any plans for somebody to produce windows 2000 ones.

i actually bought a SBLv because of how sh1tty the current vortex2 W2K drivers are... i still have the card sitting here and will keep it for the time being....

cuz after hearing them both.... i agree A3D/2 is far more realistic.

I wanna keep using mine. I hope they get bought out by some company other then CL, and make some new drivers.

I ditched my A3d card simply because it didn't do jack in Windows2k.

If you have to use Windows 2000, do NOT install the beta drivers. Well, you can, but don't be surprised if your gameport doesn't work afterwords. THe default drivers seemed to be just fine.. you're not going to get a3d sound anyway, but after I installed Aureal's with my mx300, goodbye gameport.

It's a good card and I won't throw it out because I have a glimmer of hope for A3d to work under Windows 2000. Doubtful, but until then I keep it. This damn SBLive EAX sound sucks, but it's better than nothing.

I am currently using an SQ2500. Great card for Win98. Music/games simply rock. However the Win 2000 drivers really blow. Real channels barely work so I am ditching them in favor of an SB Live. I hope Aureal can get there act together and put out some kick a$$ drivers 😀

beta drivers for mx300 worked fine for me. But I didn't get a chance to really test out the rears. I did hook up my headphones to the rears and did not find any drop in volume...hmm...come to think of it, I record to my MD using either of the 2 and do not have to adjust the recording level, so I know for sure they're equal. I don't know about a3d though...I don't have any games that require it.
