Aunt's having a baby at 44

The news today came as a shocker to me at work. My aunt, who is now 44 years old, is pregnant with her boyfriend that she intends to marry in July.

Just FYI, my aunt has been married/divorced twice already, and she has a daughter from her first husband which is almost my age.

I believe this is a terrible decision, not only because she is 44, but because she is a pretty irresponsible person in life.

I feel sorry for 3 individuals:

1. My cousin (her daughter)
2. The guy that marries her
3. The baby when it is born

Also no pics guys, but just to satisfy the mass perverts here, my aunt is very good looking.

I don't see it as a terrible decision. I hope the baby is born healthy and is brought up in a happy home. That's all a kid would want.

You can't do that earlier than when it's usually done - the test will produce a false positive.

10 weeks is the earliest.

Maternal age influences the chances of conceiving a baby with Down syndrome. At maternal age 20 to 24, the probability is one in 1562; at age 35 to 39 the probability is one in 214, and above age 45 the probability is one in 19.

I hope so too, but if you knew my aunt you would know she is not responsible at all. Her kid (my cousin) went through a lot of strife in life because of her. I won't get into any specifics but it wasn't pretty.

My aunt's the type of person that is very self centered, she goes out several times a week, likes to party, and if she is tired nothing will get done. She used to leave my cousin alone crying or pass her to other people for days at a time because she was out having "fun" or sleeping.

My main thing I'm praying for now is that the kid comes out healthy with no physical or mental disabilities.
