Audioslave

So, I saw Audioslave last night I'm not posting to talk about how great it was, rather I'm just curiosu about something.

After playing a few Audioslave songs, they played spoonman, hunger strike, several RATM songs, Blackhole Sun, etc.

Is this totally normal? Do other groups that are made up of members from previous groups do this?

I mean, I would never expect to see Foo Fighters play Nirvana songs along with thier stuff.

i personally think it sucks. i heard audioslave perform bulls on parade, it was the worst thing i'd ever experienced.

LOL true that. The Rage guys were on the ball but Chris Cornell was awful and whiny. Morello even had to add a few bits to the solo to salvage it when I heard them live.

The best part was when Audioslave did Soundgarden songs, it was territory Cornell was familiar with and the Rage guys made every single Soundgarden song sound just that much more amazing.

the individual band members retain performance rights to all songs written by the band after the band breaks up. hunger strike isn't soundgarden or ratm, for instance. it's temple of the dog. broken up band members do it all the time. paul mccartney plays beatles songs all over the place.

i think they would be good at soundgarden songs...but i would just try not to listen if they were playing RATM songs...no way could Chris Cornell pull off what zack de la rocha brought to the songs....ugh...im glad i have never heard that it would kill the songs for me.

but like i said i wouldnt mind them playing soundgarden songs

Yep, it was fun 🙂

Maybe you can go next time.

Sounds like I'll be seeing the same show as last time next weekend... Saw them a few months ago just before they went to Cuba. I actually thought being able to hear RATM songs played live but 3 of the orig 4 members was great... seeing as how you'll never get to see it again. Cornell only tried to sing one of them and it wasn't all that bad. I however thought the solo he did on black hole sun was horrible, I dont think he is capable of playing and singing at the same time.
