I think it's promising, although it sounds a little too U2/Phil Collins-ish (I don't know how else to explain it). I liked the RATM-type stuff better.

I think you can hear a really crappy stream of their new song "Be Yourself," on the official website. But it doesn't do it justice.

I enjoy some of there stuff. Some of those guys are really talented, but there songs don't really please me.

I loved the first AS album and the first single (Be Yourself) is definately more mellow....I like it though.

Did you happen to hear it on Sirius? The Sirius DJ's have already played it several times tonight on the Octane and Alt Nation channels.

They had a few that I liked, but the rest of their album was just a little past the point where it was listenable (I mean it was above that line, if it was lower then the rest would've sucked).

I've never really been a RATM fan, then again haven't really listened to them, much to make enough of an opinion about them.

First album definately rocks! New song is decent but definately has a different sound then most of the stuff on the first one. Hopefully the new album has some harder stuff on it.

Is that really Chris Cornell? Maybe its the crappy bitrate/quality, but that doesn't really sound like him to me.

Its not bad really, it just sounds, weird.

RATM was definitely better, but Audioslave just has a different sound/direction that most old Rage fans can't stand for some reason. I think it's the fact that Chris Cornell has an introspective focus. Zack was more into the big picture, I think Cornell is into the inner portrait. This really sounds more Dylan-esque, it's pretty hard for Rage/Soundgarden combo to be as ball-less as U2. I'll have to wait to see if Morello adds in some killer solo's like he did in the old Rage days.

It doesn't seem to be a bad song, but as others have said, the quality is very bad. It's hard to tell at this point. RATM fans will probably hate it.

I listen to Audioslave since they're the closest thing to RATM

agreed. soundgarden is my favorite band, so damn talented.

I like the music of it, but the chorus is mildly annoying. The voice sounds less like Cornell and more like a whiny highschool kid trying to emulate him.

I'm going to assume for now that it's just the bitrate making it sound like ass, and wait for a decent version to see what Cornell really put into it.

I've been excited for this album for a LONG time. Audioslave is seriously one of the only bands I like that's around these days. RATM and Soundgarden are in my like top 5 and i'd rather have them both back compared to Audioslave... but that's how it goes! Hate to say it, but i'm not really enjoying the song on the link. But who knows, in better quality it could be better. I was listening to some Soundgarden right as I found this thread, good times. I think it was a bad idea to release a song in such bad quality, but whatever. I know there will be something better on the album at least. The first album was so good, Gasoline is such a great song, especially when they open their live shows with it.
