Audioslave destroys Velvet IMO. Although the new Audioslave cd is a pretty big let down to me... I think I might be too hard on it though because their first cd was so amazing.

This is how I feel about this as well...

ummm... Velvet Revolver
There you go.
Audioslave=Soundgarden's singer fronting RATM

VR=STP's singer fronting Guns n Roses.

STP > Soundgarden (bands both singers came from)
GnR > RATM, Soundgarden, and any other band except maybe Zeppelin, Van Halen and The Who (maybe a couple more, but you get the idea)

Therefore, Velvet Revolver > Audioslave

ha, I thought this was going to be a poll about who's worse, more disappointing, and doing a better job of going through the motions and collecting $$$$.

If you have to pick between two dog turds, VR is better I guess. Slash is elevnty billion times better and more interesting to listen to than Morello, the Audioslave/RATM rhythm section is a joke, and Cornell isn't what he used to be.

Audioslave is much better than Velvet Revolver. As a die hard fan of STP and GnR, I felt that Velvet Revolver was a let down to both bands. I saw VR in concert back in November of 04 in Southhaven (suburb of Memphis) and it was alright. I was pumped about them when "Slither" was released before the whole album, but the rest of the album is weak (maybe aside from "Fall to Pieces"). However, I still love STP (even more so than GnR) and Weliand back in the good days of "Wicked Garden", "Vasoline", etc.

As far as Audioslave is concerned, they write very good music. Take a look at the words to "Your Time has Come". True, Tom Morello may not play Slash-like screaming solos, but his style is unique and I respect that. I was also a major fan of Sound Garden. Chris Cornell can also hit certain notes that Weliand cannot. However, I never really listened to Rage Against the Machine.

All in all, they are both relatively good when compared to this rap junk and techno that is out nowadays.

Anyone who says both are crap must not like any rock.

Theres your problem. Morello is getting steadily worse in Audioslave. The new album is mediocre at best and Morellos playing is so washed out. Not to mention the fact that he steals a lot of riffs now for some f***ing odd reason. In RATM the music just flowed.

I'd say its very close but Audioslave edges out VR by a bit.

When wa Morello's playing ever good. He finds a cool riff and plays it over and over again for four minutes. His playing is so annoying, because it is so repetitive.

Also, Audioslave has to have the worst drummer ever. You could teach a freaking chimp to play drums like that.

VR...has there own problems. How can so much talent go sour????
