http://www.gdhardware.com/hardware/soundcards/creative/aud4_notebook/shot2.htm

This is the card soundcard i plan on slipping into my new IBM T43. It seems the t43 doesnt have any audio out ports that will work with either the z5500 or promedias. But even the ZS notebook doesnt seem to have the nessesary ports to accomodate the promedias. I think the z5500 cables connect to an adapter and fit through the slit. I'm basically asking to make sure my setup will support either the z5500 or promedias.

I think the zs notebook has all the decoders the z5500 offers, this shoudlnt make the diffrence between which speakers i pick.

If you wanna make a side comment on which combo is better that would be appreciated... zs notebook/promedia or zsnotebook/z5500

Welcome to AT.

The card has cables that attach that allow any 5.1 computer speaker system to attach.

Seems like your budget is kind of wide open if you don't seem to care which set to get for speakers.

I'd take the Kllipsch over the Logitechs.

Have you considered getting a HT type setup? (I don't know what your budget is, but naturally if you want to spend more, you can get stuff that's much nicer than anything designed for computer use).

well, my budget for speakers is right around 300, the cheaper the better, but if the 40 dollars in price is a big change ill throw down for it. Any other suggestions? I'm reading other 5500 vs promedia posts in the search tho... but any extra insight would be mcuh apprecaited

My extra insight would be go out and listen to both of them if you can. :)

If you're an "Audiophile" you should find one you like better pretty easily (but would probably be disappointed in either ;))
