audiology 2zs?

well is it worth buying an audiology 2zs in the next month or two or is there going to be a an audiologly 3 anytime soon? and will it be worth waiting for such a thing. ?

Creative announces a new line of cards every year in the September/October timeframe. There shouldn't be anything released before then.

I have the ZS and I don't think you can get much better the 108 snr. The original Audigy was 100 snr so I expect the Audigy 3 to be just a few more db higher if anything. And is the Audigy 1 really only 18 month old? It seems like it has been around for longer then that. I will be sticking with my Audigy 2 ZS for years to come.

Yeah but I think the article mentions that it will be announced at the end of the year (ie. 2004) and will be on sale in the beginning of 2005. Now I am planning on buying Audigy 2 ZS myself and this wait is just simply too long. Also there is a mention that PCI slot does not provide enough power and thus it is probably going to be introduced for PCI-Express. That means you'll need to buy a new motherboard just for this sound card... so just get the ZS.

hopefully PCI express is out and the audigy 3 is built for it

They need to cover there cards with shielding and filters on the incoming power to try to get the sound quality up to where it would be with a quality external DAC

I find that hard to believe. In my system downstairs I run an AIW VE out of a pCI slot. That's got a radeon 7500 GPU, 64MB of DDR 400, a very HOT TV tuner and everything else on it. If a PCI slot can power that, it sure as heck can power a tiny DSP and some not-too powerful converters.

By the sounds of the article I don't think it's a power issue rather than it's a bandwidth limitation of present day PCI.

Unless by power your refering to the bandwidth either or.

yeah ok, i think i might as well get a 2zs now, at least its better than the onboard sound that i have now. im planning on getting a pci-e board at the end of this year so ill see how things unfold.

It would be nice if creative could fix the drivers for the ZS before they come out with a new card.

What's wrong with them? I'm very happy with my Audigy 2 ZS. I'm using whatever drivers came on the retail CD 2 months ago. I've played GTA3 & Vice City, Tribes 2, UT2k4, Far Cry, and NFSU. No problems here!

Also, I'm going to have a hard time believing that they can improve upon a 108dB SNR. This card just sounds perfect.
