AudioGalaxy

Maybe it is old news, but I just installed it today.
It is the first thing since Napster that I have been satisfied with.
Is everyone using it now?

Hope you know that audiogalaxy installs a spyware program along with the program. I forgot the name of it, but if you have a firewall program like zonealarm, it'll catch it.

Cool, everyone tell me what you are using, then we can poll it and find out if one is vastly more popular and worth a look for those of us who aren't using it.

Yeah, I figured it did, but sort of don't care.
Anyone know the name and if we can block it with ZoneAlarm and not effect AudioGalaxy?

Morpheus was great, but it tied up my system resources and made my computer buggy...i had to uninstall and thats too bad since it really is a good program

I've used WinMX since 1.2, but now people are just a$$holes on it, 4 out 5 of my downloads ended up saying "Connection lost; aborted by user", and these were not huge files mind you, I only download MP3s via P2P progs (IRC is reserved for the other stuff). So, I've tried AudioGalaxy, and I liked it, but it doesn't have enough of interesting material for me. I really like Morpheus, it reminds me of Napster in its usefullness for getting MP3s quickly and easily, but the current preview release has quite a few bugs, and some security issues which MusicCity or Kazaa should look into.

Glen, I hope you've properly uninstalled Webhancer, because that spyware is installed by AudioGalaxy without your authorization.

I read about this spyware after I installed audio galaxy. Fortunatly, AG is one of those programs that works after you nuke the windows partition, so whatever it installed isn't there anymore 😀

Thanks.

I figured as much, but I don't know the name of the spyware or the best way to uninstall it; have you any advise?

Actually, if you read the junk carefully it says it will install WebHancer with your Satellite. I just uninstalled it through Add/Remove Programs and then ran Ad-Aware to be safe. AudioGalaxy is the best when you can actually access the damn site, but it always seems crowded. What makes it rock is that it lists all known songs by an artist that are held by other members, so you don't have to pray that the search engine will find what you're looking for. Satellite also takes up nothing in resources, another big plus.

Yes. Well said. I think that deserves being repeated.

<< AudioGalaxy = Spyware >>

ok, but if we uninstall that part, then it remains as the best out there.
Right?
or am I missing something?

how do you change the bitrate in audiogalaxy with this new version of audiogalaxy?
before you were able to change the downloaded bitrate. I only download 192 or 256 and 128 is usually the most popular.
