Hey guys,
one of my friends (ok a friend of a friend) upgraded his HP by buying a new mobo and cpu. He got the ECS K7S5a with a 800mHz duron. Everything else is original form the HP. The previous HP model is the 4563Z. His problem is that with the new mobo and cpu, whenever his cpu processes a good dela of data, the sounds gets garbled. Otherwise, it runs fine he says. The onboard sound is disabled on the ECS board. The sounds card hes using is the rockwell combo modem/sound card, which the hp site says uses the ac97 codec. Any suggestions? Im thinkin the cpu doesnt process the sound codec when it under heavy usage, or the hard drive is too slow. The HP site only specifies that its a 10.2 GB hd. Anyway, any suggestions would b much appreciated.

thanks
RYAN

You might try going to the windows update page and let it scan your system . It may find new drivers for the sound card and install them for you. I know it did it for my c-media onboard sound and it works great now.

Good Luck
