Audio static? Codec related? or hardware related?

alright, so in the background there's static, it's always there... music or no music.

I've tried different speakers.

Now, i have an augidy 2 soundcard.
Could the huge mess of codec's i have be the issue?
Or more hardware related?

If it is the codec's.. is there a way to delete all codec's at once and reinstall them? correctly.

Ok... well for me this was the problem. I had te speakers all the way up and the computer down. Try setting speakers at 75% and see if it goes away. quite obvious if you already tried, but hey im trying to help...

Static or hiss?

Static is a buzzing sound. Hiss sounds like a stream of compressed air. Many speakers naturally produce hiss because of amplifier quality. Static would be an extremely annoying sound.

One test would be to use headphones. If you can still hear it with headphones on, it's definitely a soundcard problem. If not, I would point to the speakers as the source.

Alright guys, I got it!

I pulled the card.. cleaned the contacts with an eraser. and voila!

Thx for the input tho :D
