Audio sounds all scratchy in PowerDVD 3.0

I just got a LiteOn DVD Drive and installed the software it came with, but the sound in PowerDVD sounds scratchy. I've tried 3 different dvd's and all sound scratchy. However, music cd's and my mp3's do not sound scratchy. So I assume the fault lies in the software somewhere, but where? Any suggestions apprec.

no, im using wave, and also tried the direct sound thingy. both sound scratchy
 
I have nearly the same problem, it's like the sound stutters (and the video follows the sound). I use spdif-out via my Augidy, grunjee, any reason why that should have something to do with the problem?
