Audio Problems with Abit NV7M in Windows XP

I haven't tried different OS's and kind find any info about this problem. What it does is it sometimes produces a sound glitch. I wasn't able to find any existing documention of such a problem online.
 
Not exactly the same, but sound was awful in Unreal Tournament on Win98, until I disabled the Dolby feature in the Device manager.

Wasn't Dolby originally invented to reduce "tape hiss"... why would you need that with a CD?
