Audio problem when playing dvds

I hear a clicking noise durring sustained music in a dvd movie. I don't notice it during cd playback off the same drive. I have a lite-on 16x dvd-rom running through an audigy 2 plat. The speakers are some cheap old altecs, however it doesn't seem that they are the problem. I'm planning on getting the megaworks 6.1 soon so I want to pinpoint this problem before that. I am using power dvd as my software, it is not the newest version, I think it is v 5.5, not 100% sure.

tried different movies, not different software, I find it hard to believe it is a software problem, PowerDVD is a pretty common piece of software and I have read nothing about a problem

Update sound card drivers (I know, creative drivers suck :/ ).

Try some other players like WinDVD or some other popular ones.

Spare set of speakers?

Check to make sure speakers are firmly and completely connected to the Aud. 2 pt. and not partly dangling out.
