N00b question - first build - first post.

Just put together a new system that appears to be stable with one exception - NO AUDIO. no beeps, no windows sounds, nothing.

I installed XP (no sound) then downloaded drivers 6.65, installed BIOS 1013, checked that AC97 codec enabled. Still no sound.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Not sure what steps to take.

Make sure you connected the audio wires from the case to the mobo correctly. Been there, done that.

Thanks for the quick response mauiblue

Turns out you were on track.

After re-doing all the audio wiring, I discovered, by substituting my headphones for the speaker connector, that the speaker connector (from old computer setup) is mono and not stereo.

Seems everything is working after all. Nothing that a trip to the store for new speakers won't fix. Not quite ready to take the digital receiver route yet.

Thanks again for the advice.
