I've got a 2.1 setup using Klipsch Pro MEdia 2.1s which I plug into an X-fi Gamer card. I plug my headphones into the 2.1s to adjust the volume and it's just easier than plugging into the computer.
Sometime yesterday I was using my headphones and got a crackling noise in my right speaker so I replaced the headphones thinking it was a blown h/p speaker. As it turns out, no matter which set of phones I use, as long as they are plugged into the 2.1 (controls volume, base, has the h/p jack) I have that same noise. The crackle noise isn't very noticable on when I'm using the speakers, but it's still there, and way worse when using headphones.
When the phones are directly into the computer it's fine. So I'm wondering what could make the sound in the right 2.1 speaker and right h/p speaker be all crackly.
