Audio from movies

I was just wondering if there is any way to record the audio from a dvd in a reasonably sized file and then burn it to a CD. It would be great for a long road trip or something, which is what made me think of it (someone else's post was asking how to make a long road trip fun). Listening to movies is kinda fun, a friend of mine did it with tapes a few years ago and it worked great in "shortening" the trip. So does anyone know how to do this? Is it legal?

Who cares if it's legal. There is software that will rip audio from DVD's. goto www.doom9.net and download flask mpeg 6.0. I think that will do it.

Azid GUI with the LAME encoder can rip AC3 tracks to wav and to mp3. Instructions and software on www.doom9.net
