The technicalities behind them being merged didn't really matter - they were close enough to not need two separate categories. Even with the two combined now, there still aren't that many posts there. Of the new categories, only Mechanics and Support has less.
Maybe because it is labeled Home Theater and this isn't frackinr AVSForum? Audio is general and refers to all types of audio, which would only get more attention than the current Home Theater section. Again, HT is the problem here. And who says they were merged? S&S was deleted, and HT remained. If they were truly merged, HT wouldn't be called HT...it would be called Audio/Video Reproduction, or something of that sort.
Also, not even one person in the thread I created said "Omg" and the only post that used any exclamation marks was ultimatebob's sarcastic post ("Wow... so many choices! My head is spinning!").
Of course no one said that verbatim, does it matter? There were still a bunch of folks getting all worked about S&S...acting like the world was going to end if S&S was allowed to exist and having the gall to claim that since Speakers and Audio are a part of HT that HT deserves its own section.
Again, it didn't matter how much people like you thought they should remain separate, it's about not having too many categories.
Your point? In that thread I even pointed out how I thought there were other sections that should be merged (mobile devices and communications) but cutting S&S just because the majority believe that HT is perfectly fine on its own, is retarded. If you can't see that....
I mean, what do you want? Do you think we should have a DVD Player forum, HD-DVD & Bluray subforum, TV forum with separate LCD, Plasma, DLP, Projector subforums, Speaker forum, Entertainment Center forum, Remote Control forum, etc etc? This is anandtech, not avsforum.
Are you fracking kidding me? Did you not read anything I posted in the other suggestions thread?
The solution is quite simple. A single Display Devices section, which would cover LCDs (for computer and HDTV), DLP, LCoS, Projectors...anything that is conisdered a display. HardOCP's display section has done quite well. Then an Audio section which would cover speakers, receivers, subwoofers, headphones, amps, room treatments, cables, mics etc. Even CDs, SACD, DVD-A, Vinyl could be in here since it is related.
You're the one telling me this isn't Avsforum?! That's exactly why there shouldn't be a fracking "Home Theater" section. Is this that hard to understand?
