Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus?

Can anyone tell me what this is? I replaced my NVIDIA 8800 GTX yesterday with a HD 4870. After installing the HD 4870 I kept getting a New Hardware Found message. Device Manager showed Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus. Now I've got an X-Fi sound card and I didn't do anything with my audio. My onboard audio is disabled in the BIOS. So I put the CD that came with the VisionTek HD 4870 into my drive and had the computer search the CD for a driver. That's when it found ATI Function Driver for High Definition Audio. So the new hardware found message is going but I still have no clue what this is and why I needed it. Can anyone explain?

its because 4xxx series can pass audio through hdmi

Do you think its worth the upgrade from a 8800GTX?

Reason i ask is i am tempted to upgrade myself and i think the 4870X2 may be an overkill for what i need.
