I swear none of the PC racers are worth a damn. CMR 2 ROCKED and I wish I still had it. CMR3 sucked hard AFAIK, CMR04 pretty much the same, and CMR05 well it might be okay but I can't get my 360 controller to assign brake and accel to separate axes. Well it will assign them but it never works even after a dozen configs with XBCD.

So Richard Burns Rally pretty much owns all the CMR games since 2 anyway, not that they are directly comparable since RBR is strictly simulation, but whatever. So you might say, why waste your time on the new, crappy ported CMR games duragezic?

RBR seems good and all, pretty much no complaints about anything (plus I hear RBRNet is pretty sweet), but the gd audio crackles constantly. I had read it was an EAX issue so I turned EAX off, but it made no difference. It is pretty much unbearable while using headphones, and still very annoying with speakers. So I dunno WTF to do.

On a side note, any PC racers that are good and not buggy as hell? Are the CMR games even worth it anymore? I was reading Codemaster forums and the general consensus on CMR3-5 was well.. bad (anyone like these actually? I may've missed one or confusing one with another).

I was thinking of buying Live for Speed but it seems sorta ghetto still plus seems pricey for not being a professionally done game. GTR is okay as well, but I haven't played it enough to decide if its worth a purchase. Finally TOCA3 seems pretty decent but Starforce bites so I'm not sure if I wanna pick that one up.

ANyone know of a solution for RBR audio crackling?? Seems its the only real good purchase for a recent racer (specifically rally racing, but I'm open to any really) if it wasn't for that issue.

Sorry I don't know about your audio problem, but in my opinion CMR05 is pretty good. It's definitely not what I would call realistic because the cars are much too easy to control and slide around, but it's fun, and not completely lacking in physics.

GTR, GT Legends, and CMR 2005 all have starforce. :p

That crackling problem is weird as I also had an Audigy and never had a problem with it... I don't think I've had a crackling problem with any sound card. Did you patch the game?

Anyway, give rFactor a look. There's a lot of mods for it already.
