My old ones blew and i am lookin for something that hits hard, lots of bass. I was leaning toward Some infinity speakers, but wanted to know what everyone else has/thinks.

What are 6x9 speakers?

I've got B&W Bookshelf speakers with a 6 1/2" woofer. That sucker has a lot of bass but I got a 15" Definitive Tech Subwoofer to really make the room shake.

6x9s are what you typically put in the rear or your car.

I would say the best are still Infinity kappas.

I would say go to a car audio store an listen. I would only order infinity auto speakers if you're planning to buy from like crutchfield as that might be the best they carry, but there are a hell of a lot better speakers out there.

My two favorites would be MB Quartz and best of all, Focal. Those just rock, but you need to hear them in person so don't listen to us, just let your ears do the shopping.

i went with pioneer 4 ways. super tweeter was awesome! plus they had better/more bass freq response then the competition. that's mostly what i looked for. and with 4 way it had a better range.

[edit]
2 ways suck. at least go for a 3 way. kenwood and sony are the only other ones i recall making 4ways. typical ear response is 20Hz to 20Khz. anything lower is pretty much going to be energy waves. check crutchfield.com

I agree with going to listen yourself, but I have to cast another vote for the MB Quartz!

You're dropping some serious green. Take an afternoon trip somewhere else then to some more independant audio shops. Not best buy or circuit city. Bring your favorite cd and test them out. Trust me, listen to MB Quartz or Focal, even if you don't particularly like the shop.......they are just so much better ;)

Btw some of your osund problem might be your Sony deck, in my experience the non ES series decks do tend to suck. I'm very sad to say I still have on in one of my cars, but I hate it :D

i ordered a pair of 2001 inifity kappa 692.3i 6x9 2way 330W from www.ikesound.com for about $109 +shippping.

brand new ones too.

don't order from the website -- call them and they probably can do a good deal for you. get the 6-1/2 to match only $79!

also, check out CDT Audio speakers. if u need to know more, u can msg gregshin about these -- he told me all about these. go to www.thezeb.com.

or u can check out the thread that i started - do a search in OT for 'car audio'

cool.
