I want to record what I hear when playing games. I have an Audigy2 ZS, and it has a special function on the Recording options called "What you hear". When checking this, I can record whatever I hear at that moment from the speakers. It records things internally (digitally), so it's much better quality than connecting an analog cable from output to input. I tried it with music (WinAMP, Media Player, etc) and works fine.
However, when trying to record what I hear when playing a game, the output sounds like gibberish. I can still tell that it is the sound of that specific game... but it sounds faster (like in fast-forward) and as if it's much lower quality than the 44100 that I use.
Not all games cause me a problem. Quake3 records fine. But the recordings of Max Payne 2 and every HL1-based game on Steam sounds like gibberish. Both, Steam and Max Payne 2 could record fine with Audigy1.
I tried installing the latest drivers and nothing changed.
Any solution, idea, hint, or comment on how to manage to record properly is welcome.
