The receiver and speakers just arrived today and I will set the stuff up when I get home. I've never had a real receiver before, I just hook up the speaker wire and turn it on right?

The receiver is refurb from eCost, so will it come with the hookups i need to connect it to the Audigy or do I have to go out and buy three of those cords where one end looks like a headphone jack and the other end splits into two RCA jacks?

Yes, off to Radio Shack you go -- no receiver I've seen has ever shipped with PC miniplug convertors. Receivers generally ship with zero patch cords and no speaker wire.

Stupid thing, I got the Onkyo from eCost yesterday, refurbished. It doesn't work. When I plug it in the standby light is on, when I press power the standby light is supposed to go off and the display is supposed to come on. But when I do press the power the standby light goes off and nothing else happens.

Great, now I have to return this thing and they aren't opened over the weekend.
