Audigy & Win2k problems

Hi, I've recently built a new computer, its specs are as follows:

AMD XP Thoroughbred 2400+
2x512mb Corsair XMS2700 DDRRam,
Epox 8RDA+ nForce2 Motherboard,
Windows 2000 Professional Edition / Service Pack 3
and importantly: Audigy 2 Platinum Retail.

Now the problem Im having is that the sound card just isn't working.

As far as I know, I have disabled onboard sound, but incase I may have missed something, I'm checking the manufacturer's site now.

First, I tried installing the soundcard via the retail packages Install CD. No such luck, it merely installed the media player, and not the card. Great lot of help that was. Then I tried adding the soundcard via Add New Hardware wizard, and it couldn't detect the card. Following this, in the Add New Hardware --> Sound Device menu, Audigy wasn't listed under the Creative options. The only things that where, were Gameport, and SB16 (!?). The last thing I tried was installing with the 'Have Disk...' option, but the wizard searched the CD and said 'The CD does not contain information about your hardware.'

I'm at a complete loss what to do, this system has cost an awful lot of money, and taken ages to put together, and this is a serious problem.

Help me please =]

First, make sure the card is seated properly. Next, boot into windows. Go to the creative website and download the latest audigy drivers and install them on your pc - ignore your CD. Make sure you know the path of where the drivers are being extracted to (when you download, then run the program, it likes to put the drivers in some strange directory, you will be able to find them). Go to add new hardware, say yuo have the disk, and then point the directory to the one with the newly extracted drivers. See what happens... it might work :) If it does not, I feel like your card might be dead - just because windows is not detecting it at all... but I dunno.

I can't find the latest Audigy drivers to download, they just seem to have a little update which fixes a few bugs.
