When I try to install this driver, Vista locks up after the required reboot. The beta drivers did the same for me, except my machine would lockup DURING the install instead of after the reboot. Does anybody have any suggestions? I've installed the Kx project drivers for now, which work ok as long as I disable the Kx mixer, but I have sound stuttering in some games.

I also have an M-Audio Revolution 7.1 sitting around, but it's got no drivers in Vista yet. There is a Via beta driver for Envy24 and Envy24HT chipsets, so I'm tempted to try that. Has anybody tried them so far?

At this point, I just want working sound in Vista. I don't really care if it's with my Audigy2 or M-Audio Revolution.... Any help would be appreciated!

Did you uninstall the old beta driver first via device manager?..Reboot before installing new driver as well.

Yea, I did that. I finally was able to get the driver to install by using the device manager and pointing it to C:/Windows/Temp/CRF001 - where the driver is extracted. However, when I rebooted I had no sound. Windows media has no problem playing files, but I get no sound output. Everything *looks* fine, but no sound! I'm at a loss here. I've played with the default output sampling rate and whatnot, but still no sound.

Anybody got any ideas?

Just an aside - the Audigy 2NX (external USB sound module) passes the Vista Upgrade Advisor with flying colors. No changes needed. That is probably why it is not listed.

These drivers fixed several things for me:

- The betas would BSOD during install, and then require several reinstalls to recognise the hardware. After installation there are frequent BSODs whenever a sound starts.

- Now the install works correctly for me and no more BSODs on sounds.

- Settings such as Digital Output only are kept between reboots.

While not entirely happy with the sound quality and most features apart from basic sound are non-existent, they are not too bad at this point.
