The Audigy is giving me problems setting it up again , below is a status report as of now.
Any ideas welcome, I had it working before and I know this is not working properly. The
problem is confusing part, where lies the error. Maybe you can help? If so I would like
to hear your opinion...



1.) Checked to see if the Audigy Drive is connected okay with the internal cables.
2.) Each time Remote Control Manager starts it will cause an error in a given DLL
file, the executable file for this seems to change.
3.) I have removed using the uinstallaiton wizard, deleted registry entries
and deleted the Creative folder in Program Files then reinstalled the Audigy CD.
4.) The device lists itself as a EMU101Kxx, not how it should be as I
remember it saying Audigy before.
5.) The rear speakers will simply not fire, in fact you can faintly hear the
rear speakers through the front ones when testing 5.1 mode. The center channel is also
very faint. All cables plugged in the right order, triple checked.
6.) Moved sound card to different PCI slot, problems remain.
7.) Checked if IRQ is being conflicted with other devices, no it isn't.
8.) I have disabled the onboard audio on this motherboard and that works
as it's not listed under Windows, only the so called EMU101Kxx device is
which should be the Audigy but gets confused.
9.) This is an Intel chipset motherboard.
10.) It is imporriblse to install any driver updates as they insist on there being an Audigy installed. Although
physically in the syste it obviously cannot know of its presence.
11.) All this happens even on a fresh installation of Windows XP, I am
dealing with this problem on two fronts, Windows XP and 2000. Both behave exactly the same.

The first thing I want you guys to confirm is what is the Audigy listed as an audio device in Windows 2000/XP?

I'm running WinXP Pro. I'm sure you did this, but did you install the Audigy WinXP driver patch immediately after you installed the CD drivers??
 
Right, I thought it was supposed to be an audigy audio device listed and not some EMU10Kxx, how this happens is beyond me considering the ini files have not been changed.

As for installing Windows XP driver update please see point 10 above or below:

1. What motherboard are you using and
2. Regarding #10 up there, right click the driver update and (if you have winrar/winace/winzip) extract the file and find the driver in there, then use it to update. That will also work.

HOWEVER if you have a motherboard with a VIA chipset, chances are your Audigy will NOT work properly and you'll have to get a GTXP. Sucks don't it.

Edit: I don't know if VIA makes intel chipsets (probably not) so I don't have the slightest clue what's going on. A problem similar to yours happened to me on a KR7A because of the chipset.

Interesting... i'm using a VIA KT266A chipset... and I'm considering getting the Audigy. I'd like to get the Santa Cruz, since it's better for music. But it's impossible to find in Canada. Soo... is it possible to get the audigy workin on a KT266A board?
 
1.) I will try the driver unzip thing/
2.) Intel makes Intel chipsets, not VIA.
3.) This is an Intel 845D chipset motherboard, namely the EPOX 4BDA 2+, it was working on it before fine.
 
Nope, unzipping the driver updates and clicking setup.exe from the folder each one in turn was unzipped to makes point 10 be active again, see below:

The most confusing part of it all is that it worked before on this motherboard.
 
I currently am running a amd 1800xp on a kt266 chipset and the audigy platinum ex works great. No promblems. Also running dual boot windows xp pro and windows 98se. Hope this helps

My Audigy is working fine on a VIA board (Epox 8KHA+) with no problems.


GFORCE100 I would try the Audigy in another PC to see if it`s faulty in anyway,then if it`s fine I would try another clean install of OS with minimal hardware, also in Bios I disabled both midi and game port address as well on my Epox 8KHA+ board.
 
I disabled MIDI, onboard audio in BIOS and did a fresh install, nothing.

Not checked it in another PC yet, thats the ultimate one though if nothing works.
 
Did you remove the inf files as well?

In any case, you have to install the drivers, AudioHQ and Surround Mixer as a minimum before you can install any of the web downloadable updates.
 
Just took the liberty of doing a full new install of Windows XP wiping it all out prior to installing from scratch.

Then once finished I go install audio hq, sound mixer, remote control center, drivers, and reboot.

Upon coming back we the same problem almost as if it's a section tape rewining itself over and over.

To me there is something electronically gone wrong with the card, I cannot find another feasable explanation.
