Audigy or Game Theatre XP, Which would you buy?

if you needed all the connections, i'd go for the gtxp (cuz it's cheaper and reviews say it sounds good). if you don't, get an oem audigy, or acoustic edge, or santa cruz. but if you would like a remote to go with all this sound goodness, the audigy plat sounds like a good deal (but it's big price tag scares me).

one thing that has not been mentioned throughout this whole thread is the fact that the audigy supplies a firewire port. am i just being fooled here or isn't that a plus?

It could similarly be said that the GTXP offers a 4-port USB hub. Personally I own a GTXP and it sounds good tome, with my Boston Acoustic BA4800's I get satisfactory sound. 3d positional audio is way cool and a must for any semi-serious gamer.

Anotehr vote for the HERC, I own the Fortissimo 2 and hook via toslink/to my DB-1040 for enhacend music and games

IMO PowerDVDXP + a Herc Card = Bliss

what about cpu utilization between the audigy and gtxp...

i saw on a review somewhere that the gtxp had a utilization of 21% or something while encoding an mp3...

Who cares about cpu usage with how fast today's processors are really? I mean is it really going to effect a 1 ghz or more cpu ?

good call...i get so wrapped up in these little things like 1 or 2 fps etc. but do not stop to think about the fact that its not gonna matter with my system anyways!

I doubt you saw the GTXP have 21% mp3 encoding(did you mean decoding?), the GTXP has onboard mp3 decoding with cpu utilization at 0%. Unless the review was made prior to Hercules fixing this feature.
