Audigy Gamer/MP3+ Retail: $80 at SoCal Fry's

A friend saw these in Friday's flyer (3/1 to 3/5). Either Gamer or MP3+ are $79.99. Could become a good deal if pricematched with coupon at your favourite office store (OD, OM, Staples, etc.) 🙂

Is it worth to upgrade my Soundblaster Gamer card with this one? (if I remember that name correct) Will I really hear a difference?

I have no idea how the Audigy's sound compares to SB Live. I'm thinking of buying it, it's cheaper than Newegg and other places.

staples carries mp3 and gamer each for $99, and there are $20 off $100 and $30 off $150 coupons floating around. grab one of each at pricematch for $160 and drop $30 off. $130 total or $65 each? nice.

The chip that powers the Audigy, the emu10k2 or something like that, is 4x as powerful as the one that runs the Live!. Its not that much better, though, as most of the other components stay the same, and for the most part, the chip was never the bottleneck before. Personally, I am going to order one from Outpost(They have it there for same price) but only because I plan on using my new computer for the next 3 or 4 years. Right now, the 30$ Live! card from newegg should be fine.

You might have a friends at Staples that will let you PM and use a coupon, but some of us arent that lucky 🙁

I just got the Gamer card from Buy.com. It was $80 +6(and change) for tax. I want to say $86.70 or something. Got it in 3 days.
