Audigy 2zs popping noise *Updated*

I hear popping sounds coming from the sound card when its quiet and no sound is supposed to be heard. I have narrowed it down to the Audigy sound card because, I've tried different speakers and a headset and I still hear the pops. It's annoying as hell. Sometimes with a reboot it will go away. Anyway to get rid of it, short of rebooting?

The Audigy2 ZS sucks ass. I bought one becuase it was supposedly the best sound card out there. WRONG! I researched the problem and it came down to the crappy Audigy 2. I researched to find the best sound card and everywhere I heard, "M-Audio Revolution". The sound is amazing compared to the Audigy 2.

I had popping sound with an audigy 2 oem, can't remember how I got rid of it. Might of been after a bios flash and I didn't notice that onboard audio was still enabled? Anyways I would really like to hear an M-audio Revolution, as I prefer the nicer sound if not too pricey. :beer:

I had a very similar issue with my Audigy 2 when I initially installed it. In my case a relocation of the Audigy to a different PCI slot solved my popping. I now have the Audigy in PCI Slot 2 (I have a VIA K8T880 Pro board versus your nVidia, but other than possible interupts differences on our boards this still might be useful to try). In my system the slotting now looks like AGP card, then an empty PCI slot, and then the Audigy. I wish I could tell you for sure that this will fix your issue, but as the others have said the Audigy is a bit picky so this not a definite solution.

I had an Audigy 2 ZS that did the same thing in CSS, especially when CPU was under heavy load. I ended up selling it.

This happens a lot when the sound card is in a PCI slot that shares an IRQ with an IDE controller. Moving the card to the next slot up or down usually solves the problem.

Some Audigy's do this when they get old though... somethin with the DAC I think. But yeah... try moving it to another PCI slot.

UPDATE

I switched the soundcard over from PCI slot #5 to slot #3. So far so good. It's been running without any pops for two days now. It looks like it might have been some kind of IRQ conflict over on slot #5 that was causing the pops. Thanks guys.
