Audigy 2 ZS DVD-Audio not working please help!

Ok...here's a question:
I'm trying to play the DVD-Audio sampler disk that came with this card. It won't play? The Crative Media Source DVD-Audio player recognises the DVD-Audio disk, and it sees the tracks, but when I hit play the DVD spins for a while...then stops and there is no audio and the player does not even count time? I have digital out set to OFF because DVD-Audio does not work with it.

I'm running WinXP Pro, PIII 733Mhz...DVD-RW NEC ND-2510A

If anyone had the same problem please let me know what you did to repair it.
Called creative tech support. Those people are clueless. He told me to move card to different PCI slot and reinstall. Somehow I don't think that will solve the problem.

Ctrl-Alt-Delete. Do you see DVD Audio (or similar) under processes? It should install, and start with windows, whether you selected it or not. Gotta love Creative bloatware.

Not really related:
Try using CTPanel instead of the cumbersome multi-panel controls. The whole package is installed, even if you pick "drivers only"
c:\program files\creative\sb audigy 2\program\WDM\Common
 
Do you have the DVD-A process running? If not, no DVD-Audio for you.

If you don't see DVD-A there, check Run-> mscofig -> startup. If it's not checked, check it. If it's not there, I'm afraid you might have to uninstall / reinstall.
Hopefully, someone else has an easier fix.
 
I have CTSVCCDA.exe I don't know if DA stands for dvd audio. Otherwise I don't seem to have anything that is 'dvd-audio' in the processes nor in startup of msconfig...
 
I have the same problem. I put in a DVD-A disk into the drive and the player picks up all the tracks, but the play button just stays grayed out and it doesnt play the disk. What is further confusing is that this happens with only some of my disks and some other actually play.

You are not the only one with DVD-A problems, and you are right creative support sucks ass, a complete waste of time. All they do is give you general answers and have you run in a circle. I waited an hour just to talk to a technician and all she did was direct me to some knowledge based answer that I could of looked up on my own.
 
I have not tried the DVD Audio sampler disc (I refuse to install Creative Media Center) but I installed the Feature Showcase Demo from the install CD and the DVD Audio option is available when I run it. I do not have any type of DVD Audio process running either. Try running the Feature Showcase Demo and see if DVD Audio works from there.
 
I, too, lost my mind over the Audigy zs 2 (what a stupid freakin name). I was ranting and raving on the SB forum about how bad they suck, when the moderator pointed out to me that the forum was NOT for tech support, then linked me to the disclaimer I clicked right by when I signed up. Ooops.

I use a stand-alone DVDA/SACD player, so I got rid of the SB player. But I'm still banging away to get you an answer. Sorry the reinstall didn't work, it's the most common fix for that piece of junk. For now, the answer might be in the Creative no-support forums.
 
Just threw the DVD-A sampler disc in. Loaded up the player....everything works fine, no problems.

A DVD video player will work also.
 
how did you TURN OFF the digital out? As far as I know, there is only an option to select digital ONLY. Otherwise both are always on

You also need a DVD-ROM drive that supports DVD-A
 
I did turn off the digital out...YES.
Also I can't play the sampler disk in my DVD players? I have panasonics... s27 I think?

I'm going to call support today again...and bitch at them. I francly don't know what else to do.

READ...I said HOW did you. I don't know of any option that will do that
 
err...yes how: During setup it asks you whether you want digital out. I said keep it off by default. Also in speaker settings its unchecked. I don't know where else you can turn it on?
 
that button in speaker settings just turns analog out OFF. Not digital out. No biggy.

It says your dvd player has to support DVD-A...does it?
 
yes, you are correct it turns analog out off.
Regarding the DVD-A support I think mine does. I got it las summer...so it must...

Also I have dvd-players that support dvd-a, and they wouldn't even play this disk? I dunno...disappointed with creative at this point...
 
Have you tried using a standalone DVD playing program on your computer? WinDVD 6 can do it. I have used it on there and it works great.
 
thats just odd, it works great on mine. I guess I would have to say its the fault of the disc since you can't even play it on a DVD player.

Ask creative to send you a new one

Is this true? How do you know if your DVD drive supports DVD-A? I can't find it mentioned anywhere in the specs. Or by 'DVD-ROM' you mean a standalone DVD player?

I have an NEC 3520A.
