Had a Turtle Beach, SantaCruz.
Uninstalled it, clean sweep.
Bought Audigy 2 ZS...installed per directions
Installed all latest drivers from Creative.com...
ALL software installs fine
XP device manager says the card is there and operating properly.
PCI Card installed in furthest from AGP slot.
Once all booted up, my microphone works, sound comes out the speakers.
I can run the Speaker calibration and music and other sounds come out of the speakers.
If I try to run any of the other Creative software it says "The audio device supported by this application is not detected. The application will exit".
I have uninstalled and cleaned everything per the Creative knowledge base Solution ID 1712 and reinstalled.
ON BOARD Sound is also disabled.
SAME RESULT--I have done this a dozen times in the past 5 days...I am still calm, but going nukular is an option...

Called creative and talked to "JIM"...he said that the WDM drivers were being installed and that I should be using the VxD drivers...but the CDRom will not let me install these VxD drivers and, it appears that they are for 98SE, and ME...and the WDM drivers are the proper ones for W2K, XP...so what he told me appears to be WRONG!!

I really need help...the card is currently NOT INSTALLED...there has to be some conflict somewhere or a registry item that needs to be cleared of prior software references...

Once had an issue upgrading from a Creative card to a newer Creative card, and it refused to work in the same pci slot as the old one.

built a brand new machine and had no problems except the audigy2 zs...Installed drivers and software from installation cd..nonstop rebooting and dcom errors.
went to creatives website and ran thier auto updater same problems.
solution was finally to uninstall all drivers and software I had installed from the audigy cd and then download drivers only from creative website.
Installed updated drivers by themselves instead of over the top of the drivers that came with the card.
dcom errors and rebooting stopped.
Did not reinstall any creative media software seems like it is very creative at producing problems for winxp.

heres the link and the name of the file. It is a little over 16 mb. worked for me...good luck

EAX4DRV Audigy2 1 84 50

Also isolate card as much as possible they don't like to share.

Thanks for the info, but Creative has once again proven to be the WORST in customer support.
Phone calls are worthless, the last guy told me the only way to fix it was to reformat C: because he'd has this happen to him and it was the only way to fix it.

So after two days of reinstalling stuff, this card is up an running...

Creative ware...i've never had one of their products that actually worked without some sort of confusion.
Just look at the forum on their website, there are thousands of clomplaints and problems...

I also have a problem but it's after a year of solid use. The system without warning just stops detecting the sound card. Interesting to the above is that I too have the same All in 1 card .

I have post to creative forums (below) but a strongly suspect the power supply as the problem. please view the link provided.

Any other help will ..weel....will help.

Thanks for the info Dan...I too have been experiencing many problems with installing my Audigy 2 ZS. I have a quick question regarding your post though. You say that you installed these updated drivers by themselves instead of the ones from the CD. However, don't these updated drivers need to be installed on top of the normal drivers (i.e. the ones that come on the CD)? I installed the updated drivers but it does not recognize my card still.

Thanks
Robert

Have had constant software/driver problems with Creative. Only real answer for me was to go to other brands. Strange they don't seem to have the same problems.

Just wanted to give a shout out and some props to Daniel49.

The info and the link you provided seems to have gotten me fixed up.

I have a plain Audigy 2 sound card that I got as a hand-me-down from a friend. I recently formated and reinstalled my machine for the first time since I've gotten the card. When I noticed I had no sound and discovered the bang in my device manager, it was only then that I realized that I could not find the original disk that my friend had given me with the card.

It was soon after this that I learned the hard way what everyone else has learned, and that is that the driver updates that you find on Creative's website will not install without the orginal drivers already installed.

...All of them excepting the ones you find at the other end of the link provided by Mr. Daniel 49.

I'm sure you could also find some way to extract some file or delete some data field in the update file and hack you way in, but I prefer the easy way.

Even though I don't have the Audigy 2 zs card, these drivers make sound come from my speakers.

Thanks again Daniel49!
