I just got an Audigy Platinum and some Logitech z-680s. Its a sweet setup but I'm having some issues. Well just one issue. I have the creative software set to digital output only and set to 5.1 speakers. I am using an opitcal digital out cable from the LiveDrive to the Logitech receiver. However when it detects the signal it only sees Stereo. Anyone have a suggestion for a fix so I can get my stuff doing 5.1?

Thanks,
Jason

So far I have only used Winamp and other random media programs. Do I have to be watching a DVD to get the audio to go over to 5.1?

Yes. You will only get 5.1 audio if you are listening to a Dolby Digital or DTS encoded stream, all other audio going through the digitals connectors will be stereo, which is why it is recommended you use analog especially if you are gaming.

I just got PowerDVD up and rolling, set it to use SPDIF out, switched my cable to coax SPDIF and switched my creative panel back to 5.1 digital only. Still no luck.

Any ideas?

Audio HQ -> Device Controls -> Decoder -> bottom choice (SPDIF passthrough)

you can't get 5.1 digitally unless you have a source thats been encoded for DD

what source are you using?
