"Creative owns 30% of Dolby.. So that DTS and THX stuff in Audigy 2 might not be like the REAL DTS or THX system.. You know Creative.."

As far as I know, Creative has no financial interests in Dolby Laboratories. It wouldn't matter anyway, as DD and DTS are nothing more than audio standards, either the hardware supports it or it doesn't, nothing to do with marketing. THX on the otherhand is a certification which can be viewed as a marketing stunt. It's pretty irrelevant if all your other audio hardware isn't THX certified as well.

"I'm hardly a fan of Creative, but considering that Dolby has nothing to do with THX, which is a Lucasfilm certification or DTS which is a competitor to Dolby's DD5.1."

THX is now a seperate company no longer a division of Lucasfilm. Creative did invest in THX which is probably what The0iL was talking about, not Dolby Laboratories.

i was in beast but or crappyusa and saw a phillips card and it said it did 5.1 encoding

I recommend the Terratec DMX 6fire 24/96. It's got all of the features you need and more. I purchased mine at JDsound.com for $250 with free shipping. Official Site. The DMX 6fire works really well with XP Pro and 2K Pro (only has 5.1, but that's perfect for my Klipsch 5.1s). 😉

Can anyone list the specs of the Orginal Audigy, AC'97 and the nForce2 APU? I would like to see comparassions. 😀

audigy2 is one of the first sound cards to support DRM in hardware .... stay away .. stay far away.

Yea, with the original Audigy being the first. DRM is not an issue, it doesn't affect any non-DRM content which is basically everything.
