Audi S8 vs. BMW 7-series

740iL (282HP) - 67K
750iL (326HP) - 92K

Would anyone in their right mind get a 7-series over an S8?
The S8 looks like a bargain at 72K.

Edit: The S8 is a lighter car too.

 
I don't think people buy 740's and 750's with speed in mind. I prefer the 750 over the S8 myself, I've seen A8's (same body as the S8, correct?), and they look really bland from the outside. Definitely not something that costs 72k. The BMW is much more refined/aggressive looking, I think. Although for that money, I would buy a C5 corvette for the summer, and an S4 quattro for the winter.
 
If I wanted something HUGE like that I'd rather go with a Lexus LS430 which is unfortunately smaller, leighter weight, better fuel economy, costs a lot less and makes more sense. Hehe.

Seriously though wouldn't you get the most bang for your buck with a 2002 BMW M540i V8? That is my ultimate dream car.

If you want big go with a oh what's it called it starts with a B?
 
Yeah, a Bentley would be nice, but I would be terrified to park it anywhere but in my garage. Couldn't imagine driving something around that costs almost 200k.
 
S8 rules, because anybody who has seen and appreciated Ronin knows that their getaway car is an Audi S8. 🙂

If I owned one anytime somebody said "which car shall we take?" I'd say "something fast...Audi S8". hehe

I would have to disagree on that. An Audi A6 2.7T is 10K cheaper and almost, if not as fast (with computer chip upgrade) than a 540.
Better handling too.

Bentley's are crazy... I was looking at cars under 100K.. hehe 🙂
 
I'd be looking at an S500 as well in that price range0 🙂 Anyone know the prices on the V12 version? 😉

S600's (12 cyl. models) go for well over 100k, I think around 115-120 with different options. I wouldn't want to buy a Mercedes though, I'd rather get something that has some actual muscle underneath, like an Audi or BMW.
 
Id get a beemer 7 series over an A8. Then again id prolly never get either...I would much rather get a Mercedes S500 or an S55 AMG. 😉

I agree with you that the M5 is the world's best sports sedan. HANDS DOWN.
However, it is a terrible value given that you need to cough up 90K to get
your hands on one because of dealer markup and price gauging.

My comments were in regards to a 540 vs. A6 2.7T.
The 540 is an awesome ride, but I don't think it justifies an extra 10K (approximately 55K)
while the A6 2.7T can be had with every single option for 45K.

much more stylish, classier, prettier. You'll get more looks inside a 7 than an S8 for sure. S8 is sooo plain and bland, no spice at all... it's like a lincoln, only uglier! Plus that little GPS system on top of the trunk is primary target for teenagers like me to pry it off for you! cuz when people like see a little box on top of the trunk of a nice car, I see it as a souvenir 😀 j/k... but I know other people who would want that little GPS box 😉
 
S8 All the way. More adjustable, lower maintenence, more of a sleeper also. Of course, I'd rather have a S3 if they'd bring them over to the US :|
 
Audi S8 owns the BMW's. The S8 just happens to be my favorite car. I dream of having one. I sat in an S8 at the Detroit auto show. OMG its amazing, the car combines luxury and performance. Ronin had a reason for picking the car. Only because its the best.
 
A bimmer is a bimmer. Although I like the A8/S8's myself, many people disagree with its bubblish body.
 
Bmw 7 series Protection Package. Don't have to worry about the slugs flying at your local school 🙂

 
btw the new 750il boasts a 6.0 litre all aluminum v-12 mated to a 6 speed automatic, with near 500hp/ftlbs torque.
 
The Infiniti Q45 (with a 340hp V8) beats the S8 in terms of performance and at a cheaper cost.

It will cost $50K US and do 0-60 in 5.8 seconds while the S8 costs $75K US and does the -60 in 6.2 seconds.

Not only that, but in my opinion the Q25 looks much better than the S8 and has a MUCH nicer interior.

However I would take the 750iL anyday..but the Q45 is more of a practical car. In a few years, the 'touring' version will probably come with close to 400hp..but that's still in the air though.

Btw, I sat in a Q45 at the autoshow and it was pure heaven!

How are the Mercedes CL-class?? I've never actually seen one on the road before. I think they are the ultra-highend M-B cars.
 
The new Q45 is very nice looking, I light the light clusters in it. I probably wouldn't want one, seems too geriatric for me.
