Audi S4s are pretty fast.

There was an S4 club at the racetrack last night.... those things are pretty quick.... high 13 second quarter mile times.

What was really cool though, was the viper vs. twin turbo supra races. The supra had "vpr klr" on his license plate. The guys went up against each other three times. and the viper won all three 🙂

times on the last race were viper: 11.96, supra: 12.03

There were a lot of damn fast cars there.

<< What do 400,500, and 600 hp supras all have in common?
They run 12's.
>>

Heh...it's almost like there's no point in adding more HP

No just most supra owners can't drive. All their cars are dyno queens. Go read supraforums.com.They are some of the most arrogant people in the world and they can't get out of the 12's. I LMAO everytime I go to their board.

My brother got a ride home by a guy with an M5 on Friday. It wasn't stock either and he said it was like getting into a cockpit to sit in it.

He also go to drive his other boss's M3 around a race track for training one day.

Me jealous!

Heh, me too.

<< aren't S4's turbos? >>

the S4 is twin turbo (or bi-turbo as audi likes to call it). and as with any stock turbo car, you can upgrade the ECU chip for an instant gain of 60hp for just around $1000. combine this with a full cat exhaust and you're already close to 340hp.

<< you can upgrade the ECU chip for an instant gain of 60hp for just around $1000. >>

Which ups the boosts. Turbo cars are awesome. Boost controller, downpipe, exhaust and what he just mentioned is an easy way to get quick horsepower. But like adding any time of forced induction it requires more air and thus more fuel.

Agreed- S4s are kickass. One in either black or silver is my dream car right now! A $1000 chip and you're pulling well over 300hp without a problem. Audi really conservatively set power figures for that car- it is truly, reliably capable of far more than 250hp stock.

If anyone caught any coverage of the Gumball3000 this past week, there were at least three S4s in the pack, one of them being an APR (Audi Performance & Racing- Houston, TX) testbed S4 that clocked in at 410hp. The two Audi S4s aren't counting the three CRAZY INSANE RS4s that were brought over from Europe!

<< aren't S4's turbos? >>

Yep, 2.7L bi-turbo V6... with all-wheel-drive (quattro).

EDIT: Volkswagen 1.8T motors are equally as tunable- the chips are less expensive and most will take the stock 180hp 1.8T Volkswagens to Audi-S4-stock-power-levels of 250hp! This makes the 1.8T 4-door Golf GLS the most ultimate sleeper built today, IMO- imagine easily being able to take something like that to 300hp and surprising your favorite Z28 Camarhos or Cobra Mu-tangs at the light! There's an outfit in Germany called MTM that took a New Beetle with a 1.8T, upgraded the turbo, full-cat exhaust, a little engine work, chip of course, intake, and if I'm not mistaken, it was pushing 400hp. That was the full Stage IV upgrade, which I believe would cost us $10k here in the States.

I'll take an Imola Blue S4 Avant please!

Nothing like spanking the ususpecting Mustang with a station wagon! 😀

When I stop you can catch up with my RS4.

<< A friend of mine at school has a 97 Talon TSi that ran 12.022 @ 111.98 last week. It's an auto too. >>

yeah, TSi's own

this summer i am getting a 91 or 92 TSi AWD for a project car. The mitsubishi 4g63 engine can hit 300 with less than 2 grand of bolts ons

my girlfriend's brother has one. It has caught on fire once when he cranked the engine and the differentials are shot. major $$$

I think S4s are the perfect practical sport-sedan.

Why? Well it offers near-M3 performance at a much cheaper price. I can't justify spending more money on the M3 just to get that little bit more..as I doubt I'd ever approach the limits of the M3.

On top of that, the S4 can be used all year around for us Northern folks plus a sweet interior <that was for you NFS4 😀>

seriously though, it does have a perfect interior..i love it wth the blue accents...mmmm...alacantra leather...mmmm...

i hope they go down in price so i can afford one later on...and also they don't bloat up the new S4 and jack its price up cuase it has a V8.

There's also that debate about NA vs forced induction, but we don't want to turn this thread into one of those do we now 🙂 I'd take either car though 😛 I have a friend with a 2001 S4 and another friend with a '99 E36 M3. Too bad they haven't met each other yet 😛 I've had the opportunity to drive both cars, and they both kick ass... you're probably talking about the E46 M3 though... still, they're all nice cars. Too bad Audi's going NA for their next S4 though 🙁

Okay before you start to fame me...

I heard this from my bro who heard it from a friend that
