Audi Q5 vs. Volvo XC60 vs. Lexus RX350

Looking for a future potential replacement for the GF's Blazer... more luxurious...

Necessary options: Heated/Cooled seats, BT, Ipod int. Backup Camera, Navigation...

Went and sat in the Q5 thought it was VERY nice, but she did not like the fact that there was not as much space in the center console for her CD's (i then pointed out that she could rip the CDs to her hard drive, and she went "REALLY!?!") She transports a dog around on trips. She likes, but does not like the idea of keyless start due to her fear of when she is being chased by someone and the remote battery is dead (yup, women have weird needs)

AWD is necessary... the X3 would be on the list, but its ugly.

Oh, the car MUST be available in Blue... and is one reason the Audi might win, since she could get her current Blazer color on the Audi w/ their custom paint job ability.

you can't get a Q5 without keyless ignition? 😕

Personally, I wouldn't want that feature.. just one more electronic thing to go wrong.

All of those are too pricey. I'd get a Forester XT Limited and call it a day.

Is she planning to have a $800 car payment, or is she leasing?

dont worry about price, its obviously not a problem... the Forester XT which she has driven, isnt quite "high" enough feeling for her 🙄.

Well, any of those would be a huge step up from a blazer.

I'd probably go for the Lexus just based on reliability and customer satisfaction. The Lexus is the only one I've driven and I have no complaints about it really.

Buick Enclave
or
Lincoln MKX

The Buick if you need 3rd row seating.

Or I'd wait to take a first drive of the new Cadillac SRX with its 300HP turbo V6.

The Q5 would be my pick from your choices.

i absolutely refuse to even let her think about getting something lambda sized... the mkx still feels cheap compared to the aforementioned vehicles

I like the Volvo XC60 adverts, so I vote that one 🙂

That or the Lexus.

The Q5 looks like it fell out of the ugly tree, hit every branch on the way down, then spent six months stuffing itself with fast-food to console itself.

If it were my money, Territory Turbo (the Ghia should get you everything you want):

That's the 245kW/480Nm version. If that's not enough for you, the FPV F6X should do:

270kW/550Nm 😉

Buying American for the sake of buying American is stupid. I did the same thing when I purchased my Cobalt in 2005 and now will never own another American vehicle for as long as they still think that quality is equal to using an ape bolt on body panels.

That being said the Edge is a nice crossover, but not really in the same league as what the OP is looking for. He already declined the MKX which is pretty much the same thing.

to OP - a Ford Flex perhaps? There is one of those in the faculty lot at my university, all black with the factory chrome wheels, I cant say it isn't eye catching in that get up

Hope you know Edge is built in Canada 😉 And also, I wouldn't compare Ford to Audi/Volvo/Lexus.

Anyway, I voted for Q5. Advanced key is a part of Prestige package (7k option!), so just get rid of it. If not, RX350. Volvo having risk of sold to nowhere (No, please not to China, Ford!) makes me not to get it.

A Ford Edge wouldn't hold a candle to any of the cars the OP is considering.

Its also one half the price

Have you compared the interior of an Edge to a Q5? It looks like it costs have as much as well. OP said price is not a problem.

Have you thought of an LR2? My friend has one and loves it, the interior is a bit spartan but he got a loaded one brand new for about 32k. It has about 28k miles on it now and it hasnt given him any problems.

MBZ GLK 350

I still think the Lincoln MKX at a $12K discount over a similarly equipped Q5, RX350 is the wya to go ut do agree the interior is not as plush as the Q5 or '10 RX.

I understand that, the Ford Edge is a quality American product. A friend of mine owns one and it is very nice.

the mkx is way less expensive than the others

the volvo is going to depreciate a lot. xc90s don't hold value at all so i doubt an xc60 will either.

the rx is soulless and ugly but from a purely rational point of view it's probably the best cuv on the market. holds its value well, put together well, decent mileage for what it is, etc. not as much passenger room inside as a decent midsize car so i'm not sure why people buy them to haul kids around, but that's common to all compact, ert, midsize suv/cuvs

may want to wait until the new SRX is out, it's caddy's second stab at a compact, ert, midsize cuv.

the flex is a monstrosity IMO 😛

My girlfriend likes the Lexus RX350 too, but all it takes to dissuade her from getting it is remind her that my 80 year old grandma drives the hybrid version of it. I wouldn't get the Volvo SUV because I don't like the back end of it. I think the Audi Q5 wins by a long shot.
