AUDI A3

Anyone have one? How is it? Anyone here has the new 2016 facelift A3? Thinking of getting an A3 Sportback but not sure yet.

We have a 2015 S3... so same family, but right before the facelift. We absolutely love it... fantastic gas mileage and peppy (s3 has a bit more power of course). We purchased Audicare for it, for all the maintenance. Thus far (about 20k miles) we have not had any issues with it yet

However, it is a small car... so keep that in mind. Sometimes I wish we got an S4 instead for a slightly larger car

Second the Golf R, they are well put together and make pretty significant gains with nothing but a tune if that's your thing.

If you are worried about warranty work talk to the dealership to see what their policy is, I purchased my 2011 GTI new and had some pretty significant modifications (bigger turbo, inter cooler, intake, turboback exhaust) done at the VW dealership before even driving it off the lot (O'Steen VW Jacksonville, FL). I had no issue getting things fixed under warranty like intake manifold and a stuck injector replaced, the latter of which happened out of state while visiting family.

My son has one (the '15 base model sedan). It has about 40K miles now. You do need to know what you're getting into. Oil changes are expensive and require a special tool that not every place will have, etc. It had a faulty sensor, I don't recall exactly what, but that was another $500 I think and not under warranty. The OEM Conti tires didn't last very long either. Gas mileage is quite good with the 1.8t.

It was a gift from his generous uncle; I probably wouldn't have made the same choice.

Everyone I know who has owned an A3 has had problems with it. A buddy of mine had two of them, the first one was a nightmare but he kept that car for years. I remember it going in the shop every 3-4 months for MAJOR repairs, he was the original owner and he maintained it by the book. He finally had enough of that car and traded it in for a new A3. Had to have the transmission replaced twice in the first 40k miles.

S3 is too expensive. I am planning to get a 2016 reg plate so getting an s3 2016 will cost like £10k more? Small car? what do you mean? The A1 is a small car but A3 is a good all-round size car? I am definitely getting the 5DR, I hate pulling down the seats and telling my friends to watch their heads lol.

Also is it true that Audi is not updating the pre-facelift sat nav?

have not attempted to upgrade satnav, we never use it (we always use waze or google maps)

and yeah, i guess your "small" is different than mine ... when my lease is up on my q50, i'll most likely end up in an A8L... lol

You can use google maps on the touchscreen? I didn't know that. Can you browse the internet lol?

oh wow A8??? I am jelous!!!! :hearteyes::hearteyes::hearteyes:

That's probably advisable if she were in London, but elsewhere not necessarily the case.
I wish. If I live in London then my salary would skyrocket too but then again the rent would be x10 more. So sad 🙁
A kitty would cost £100 here and in London, a fluffy soft kitty would cost £1000 lol :joycat:

on my phone... lol, it's far better than any car nav
Oh I see lol. So you use a plug that sticks onto your windscreen and phone placed next to it? What's wrong with the touchscreen sat nav? I've heard you can use google maps on the touchscreen? I don't know

A lot of new cars have Android Auto/Apple Carplay support so there are many apps that will run on the phone but use the dash display of the car. I'm surprised Elganja's fancy cars don't have this. No wonder he needs to upgrade!

Does the S Line Sportsback have this feature? What is this tool called?

None of the cars I own have it, hell the r8 doesn't even have bluetooth music!

I've used carplay before on rental cars, and i hate it... mainly because the integrated apps for it sucks. you have no choice but to use apple maps if you use carplay (google maps and waze do not have an interface for it)

I would LOVE the ability to mirror my phone on the car's multimedia screen... one day!
