Audacity doesn't support MP3 format.

I am running Audacity on Fedora Core 4, I installed Audacity through YUM but by default it doesn't come ith MP3 support, how should I go around this ?

There are patent licensing issues, so they can't legally embed MP3 support.

Support for an external library like LAME is probably documented if you RTFDocs, google, or find an audacity user forum. HydrogenAudio.org forums and wiki probably has the answer as well.

In windows, I stick lame_enc.dll into the plugins subfolder and tell Audacity that it's there. Check out this PIC to see how I do that. Hope this helps.
